At Dan Corrigall Music Studio, we offer acoustic and electric guitar lessons, rock guitar lessons and more.
The world of guitar sounds is ever expanding. From classical guitar to the latest developments in popular guitar playing, there are few instruments with such far ranging sounds. Guitar is an old instrument with its origins in renaissance Spain. The classical guitar we recognize today was established as the standard in the 19th century. The beginning of the 20th century saw the advent of the steel string acoustic guitar loved by folk/blues/rock artists the world over. In the later half of the 20th century the advent of the electric guitar provided guitarists with sustain, and distortion as well as other sound altering devices such as effects pedals, allowing a great deal of experimentation and creativity. The continuing evolution of the guitar affords the modern player with a rich history and future to draw from, with no shortage of inspiration.
Guitar lessons will provide the student with a mixed approach: getting the guitar under their fingers to allow for the enjoyment of music making, while concurrently developing the understanding of the instrument in the context of music theory (scales, chord progressions, key signatures, time signatures, fretboard structure). This should allow them to become comfortable on the instrument fairly quickly, thereby sustaining their motivation.
